Thanks to Seventeen Magazine, I've had the amazing opportunity to read an advanced copy of The Here and Now, a new book by author Ann Brashares. If you know me, you know that I LOVE to read, and you'll more often than not find me with a book in my hands. Also, I was absolutely crazy about several other books that Brashares has written.
This YA novel follows Prenna, a young teen who travels back in time with her mother, and many other people to escape the horrors of a mosquito-born plague. The group of travelers become their own secret community, with 12 almighty rules forbidding everything from having an intimate relationship with someone not in the community or receiving health attention from outsiders.
Without ruining the book for you (because I have already read it twice, and want you to enjoy it yourselves), I will tell you a little more. Prenna has developed a crush on classmate and friend, Ethan. It's safe to say Ethan feels the same. Throughout this story, Prenna and Ethan grow closer, threatening the future of many.
I cannot tell you enough how much I have enjoyed reading this story of Prenna. Anyone, ages 12-100 would enjoy reading this book! In fact, I'll probably pass it on to my mom to read! Do yourself a favor and pick up The Here and Now by Ann Brashares, in stores and online NOW!
